Last week was just frustrating… but I opted to vent and move on. I managed to get some of my Steampunk Dragon painted in and he is looking pretty cool. I also did some more of the Aviatrix quilt.
I started the Steampunk dragon when I moved to Oamaru…but it has taken a bit to really get to sit and work steadily on him. I finally have a new desk without divots in it. (Gotta love floor models with minimal damage, fixable and really cheap) My new desk has a glass top which makes it pretty easy for cleanup! Anyway, back to the dragon. I am painting him with the Jacquard textile paints and am also trying a new (to me) Liquitex Acrylic Ink… It was copper, I couldn’t resist. I have also tried the Jacquard Lumiere paint finally. Both are pretty darn cool! So here are some progress photos of the Steampunk dragon.
Check out the copper colour!
I need to get a better photo with better lighting… Maybe today I will get a bit more done!
In the meantime, when I was waiting for paint to dry, I worked on my Aviatrix quilt. Remember that? I finally unburied it from the piles of packing while organising my workspace. I figure it may come in handy this spring/summer/fall… I am on the next to last border. So border 5 is comprised of 5A and 5B. I am working on the 5A bits. I have 2 of the colour sets done and 2 more to go. I am very rusty at piecing again and it is slow going. I had to unsew a couple of blocks multiple times! I tend to stress out and manhandle the pieces. But by and large, they are turning out well and I think it will all work out fine in the end!
Well it is school holidays and maybe not so much will be accomplished, but I will strive to get some stuff done so there will be pretty pictures to share next week!
