Helen Godden is a well known quilter from Australia. She is an art quilter extraordinaire and the founder of “OMG Quilts” on Facebook. OMG stands for “Organic, Modern, Graphic”. One of the big reasons Helen started this group is that she is also not big into piecing and traditional patchwork (which is a focus with the Modern Quilt Group), but she really enjoys the modern quilt movement with its bold colours and simpler graphic qualities.
So to mesh her love of the modern feel, with bold colour, but to eliminate that pesky piecing, she decided appliqué would be the way to go. It is really fun, fresh, and really cool to see what members of the group come up with.
I figured I would give it a go… I had an image in my head and I finally after dilly dallying for a few weeks, committed it to cloth. It was a blast to create and I really enjoyed the quilting!
So I present “Splat” OMG#49!
Of course I did a shot of the back so you can see how nutty I went with the quilting!
Have fun, I sure did!
